Event 9: Bubble Boy

$400 + $50 Omaha H/L

Andy Hajohn had eight lives instead of nine. He makes a cordial exit as the tournament bubble boy out in 19th place for $0.

Other players enjoyed playing with Andy realizing it was his first ever Omaha. Some said he was very polite.

Hjohn told me he had lots of fun. His set of sixes fell short against Gloria LoRusso hitting Broadway on the river. Because we were in hand for hand play, the other two tables had gathered around to watch the final bubble busto.

Bill Munley busted just short of the money and says hi to his girlfriend Gudi following the blog in Spain. Munley looking to play better in the upcoming Borgata H.O.R.S.E. and Stud tournaments.

Event 8: Let's Dance

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Berlin's Bluff

Nachman Berlin (Brooklyn, NY) and Ryan Eriquezzo (Danbury, CT) are trading three and four bet bluffs.

After Eriquezzo shows a K 3 offsuit, Berlin shows the table 10 7 to take down a pot.

Eriquezzo is a Borgata veteran, while Berlin finished runner-up in the $1,500 tournament at this year's WSOP.

Twelve tables remain, 6 each in the Signature and Poker Rooms, as 115 players. The plan is to move the SR players across the hall as the money bubble approaches.

Players are on a 15 minute break to color up the black (100) chips and when play resumes blinds will be 3k/6k/500 ante.

Event 9: Last Woman Standing

$400 + $50 Omaha H/L

Andy Hajohn & Gloria LoRusso

Gloria LoRusso (Brigantine, NJ) is the Last Woman Standing and just three from the money as we're down to 21 players on three tables.

"I'm ready to attack and win it all" laughed Gloria who confessed that first she wants to make and survive the cash.

Andy Hajohn knows how to survive. He just had his last 4,000 in the middle with three callers.
Whew, Andy had the only flush and quadrupled his stack.

"This is my first ever Omaha tournament" said and excited Andy.

Event 8: Hungry Like The Wolf

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Mike Wolf doubles thru Ryan Meyers over on Table 39.

Mike three-bet for 20,000 - Ryan called.

Flop of 933♣ fell and Ryan lead out for 24,000. Mike shipped 84,500 total and was called.

Wolf's AQ vs. Ryan's 55♣.

No more diamonds fell from the sky but Wolf did manage to river a queen to save his tournament life.

Wolf who finished 9th in Event 3 ($400 NLH) now has 200,000 while Ryan Meyers has chipped down to around 100,000.

Event 8: Aces Hold

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

S-Rod Knocks Out Two

Stephen Rodriquez (Staten Island, NY) is in a big pot and somehow his aces hold.

Rodriquez is up against pocket 7s and pocket Ks and neither of his opponents pick up a sweat.
The hand launches Rodirquez to more than 150k as he busts two players.

Austen Johnson shows pocket before he gets out of the way, but he too would've been a casualty.

Event 9: Oma"aha" Table

$400 + $50 Omaha H/L

After dinner there are four tables fighting it out, all trying make it to the cash. Remember, only the top 18 get paid.

One table has a ton of star-power. The following five players have a total of 5 World Series of Poker bracelets and have won over 6 million in lifetime poker earnings. What?

In seat-2, Miami John Cernuto (Las Vegas, NV) - 3WSOP bracelets.
In seat-3 Bill "Bumperino" Munley - 1st in Borgata 7 Card Stud April 14th, 2011 SPO.
In seat-5 Charlie Brahmi (Ventnor, NJ) - 1WSOP bracelet.
In seat-6 Chris Reslock (Atlantic City, NJ) - 1WSOP bracelet, 1.72 million career earnings.
In seat-7 Barry Levy (Brooklyn, NY) - 1st in Borgata Hi/Lo 8 or Better Sept. 13, 2010 BPO.

John Cernuto & Bill "Bumperino" Munley

Miami John is the short stack at the table and Barry Levy is the table chip leader with 120,000.

Actually, looks like Levy is the tournament chip leader.

He's loose, having fun and ready to take down Event 9.

End of level 9 and time for a 15 minute color-up break as the green 25 chips are removed from play.

Kevin Saul busted out shortly before the end of the level when he got his chips in with AQ, but was beat by an AT that made a Ten-high straight.

133 players are still alive in the Signature Room.

    Event 8: Profitable Fold

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Maio (left) Describes the Action as Jon Diolosa & Celeste (right) Listen

It's a wild and crazy hand where a player, who tries to fold, is forced back into the hand by the tournament director and the ruling helps him increase his chip stack.

The flop of A♠ 7♠ 8 creates a ton of action and it goes down like this:

Anthony Maio (Jamison, PA) opens for 2,500
Steve Celeste (Howell, NJ) raises to 11k
Seat 1 moves all in for 65k
Celeste says, "call" out of turn before Maio acts, and that's when the fun begins.

Maio eventually calls and is all in for only 25k, but when the hands are tabled Celeste sees he's in big trouble.

    Seat 1: 8 8♣ (set of 8s)
Maio: A 8♠ (top two pairs)
Celeste: A 7 (top and bottom two pairs)

Celeste asks for an official ruling to see if his out of turn call is binding and if he can now fold.

After TD Tab Duchateau is summoned from the Signature Room across the hall, the fact that Maio has less chips doesn't change the action and Celeste, who actually tried to put his cards into the muck, was committed to calling the 65k.

Turn: Q (Seat 1 is 98% favorite to win the hand)

    River: A♣

The case ace hits the river, the table explodes, and just like that seat 1 is out the door as he loses to both full houses.

Maio wins the main pot of 80k, while Celeste takes down the side pot of 80k and can't believe that, despite losing the main pot, adds 15k to his stack.

"I tried to fold, but they wouldn't let me," says Celeste.

Seat 1 is left wondering what could've been as a 160k pot slips through his fingers with the turn of one card.

    Event 8: Dropping Like Flies

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Brian Muldrow is up to about 210k now and still appears to be leading among the players in the Signature Room.

Of course the number of those players is dropping fast.

Down to 14 tables here now, plus whatever is left over in the Poker Room.

    Event 8: Latest Departures

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Grubb (left) bets as Levy (right) and Others Watch

The Borgata Poker Room is packed, so one Omaha table was placed in the high limit room. "Only the good players are back here," quips Tom Bessoir (New York, NY).

"Or the one's who registered late," adds Barry Levy (Brooklyn, NY).

The table also features Borgata veteran Dave Grubb (Mays Landing, NJ) and is on the endangered list as it's about to break.

    Event 9: Chip Leaders

    $400 + $50 Omaha H/L

    Ken Catching Cards

Ken Kalkbrenner (Shamong Twp., NJ) has the chip lead with 32k. He's a bar manager playing in his first ever Borgata tournament. He says it's where "bankroll and opportunity," meet.

Couple of heavy hitters are also chipping up in Chris Reslock (29k) and Barry Levy (22k).

Level 7 (400/800 limits) is underway.

Event 8: Signature Room Chip Leader

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

It is impossible to say who the overall chip leader is, with tables split between two rooms, but it is safe to say that Brian Muldrow (Auburn, NY) is the chip leader among the tables in the Signature Room.

     Brian Muldrow

He's up to about 165k, more than six times the starting stack of 25k, and about 275 big blinds.

There are 17 tables still in action here in the Signature Room.

Now the Tweet that everyone's been waiting for:

    Tab Duchateau
Looks like 572 for todays $400. Over 48k for 1st.

Event 8: The Wheels On The Bus Go....

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

James 'Suits' Salters is one of the more recognizable regulars here at Borgata.  His ubiquitous suits, the source of his nickname, make him one of the best dressed among poker players.

     James 'Suits' Salters

So it seems strange that Steve Ryan, another regular, wouldn't notice the nicely dressed patron riding the bus with him this morning.

Apparently they sat next to each other on the bus for an hour without knowing it.  Then they get to Borgata and they're both seated at table 1 in the Signature Room (although not seated next to each other).

    Coincidence?

     Little Man Sica

Just before the break I discovered that Mike 'Little Man' Sica, who is seated over in the Poker Room, is up to 100k and might be the chip leader.

I also ran into Christian Harder, 2011 Borgata Poker Open Heads-Up Champion, who just arrived and late-registered for this event.

20 tables remain active in the Signature Room with another 18 or so over in the Poker Room.

    Mike Devinsky
    Amanda Musumeci

Amanda won event 2 ($30k) and joins these other Fall Open winners in today's event:
    Mike Lydon - event 1 ($84k)
    Harry Korotki - event 5 ($39k)

Event 8: Too Close to Call

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

There are a couple of players in the Signature Room with about 80k in chips.  One of those is Leo G.

     Leo G

When I inquired how he got all those chips, he replied "at gunpoint".  It actually took a couple of hands.  He made a full house and doubled up, then called an all-in holding pocket Jacks on a Ten-high flop.  His opponent had AT (top/top) and was busted.

With about 20 tables still active in the Poker Room, it is too early to call a chip leader, but 80k sounds pretty good (more than triple the starting stack).

Event 8: Out and In Again

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Level 5 blinds are 150/300 with 25 antes.

James Boyle was bounced from the Signature Room when Steve Ryan flopped quads.  Steve is up to about 36k and James is on his second buy-in and now seated over in the Poker Room.

Greg Glassman has also fired his second bullet, hoping for better results.

    Also in the Poker Room:

    Ara Melikian
    James Boyd
    DJ Whorley

    Event 9: More Omaholics

    $400 + $50 Omaha H/L

They've opened table 11 and seated 2010 Borgata Poker Open Omaha Hi/Lo champ Barry Levy there.

Paul Spitzberg and Charlie Brahmi are sharing the felt on table 2.

    Also present:
    Chris Reslock
    Glenn Englebert
    Barry 'SushiboyNYC' Hartheimer

Currently in level 3 with limits of 100/200.

    Event 8: Time For Tweets

    Event 9: Omaha Underway
