Badecker Beat-Down

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Andrew Badecker - 640,000 - Chip Leader

They're calling him the human luckbox at the table. Andrew Badecker, the kid from Vernon, CT continues to chip up and dominate. "Assuming I cash tonight, I'm 4 for 4 in Borgata tournament cashes" said Andrew who won a WSOP bracelet last summer in the $1500 triple shootout to the tune of $359,000.

"I've been a poker pro for four years" said Badecker.

Level 18: Blinds are 2500 / 5000 with 400 antes.

Bitker Bites Victor

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Bitker Takes Chip Lead

After moving to table 4, Chip leader Victor Ramdin is in a huge pot with Adam Bitker (New Haven, CT).

There's more than 400k in the pot and board shows 10 A♣ A 5 J. After Ramdin checks, Bitker bets 95k from the button.

Ramdin goes in the tank and after cutting out his chips a number of times, he eventually lets the hand go.

Bitker now has 625k, taking the chip lead from Ramdin, who drops to 500k.

100 players remain and we're 37 spots from the money. Play continues until the bubble breaks and everyone is expecting a long night.

Doctor Detroit

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

I caught a hand, thissss big

Okay, I've never seen anything quite like the end of this hand. Eugene "Doctor Detroit" Juergens (Brighton, MI) shoved all in on the river then clapped his hands, stood up, sprinted towards the exit, returned with his arms raised like Rocky, then ran around some more as his Opponent was in the tank. He didn't even win the hand yet. Is this some kind of tell?

Board: J-3-K-7-J (two clubs and two diamonds).

A crowd gathered around the table as Opponent thought and thought.

Eugene continued to celebrate as if he won, until Opponent finally called with A-K.

Eugene tabled J-10 for trip jacks and the 111,800 scoop.

No Spinella Zone

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Anthony Spinella - 590,000

Since Anthony Spinella got moved to Table eight he's gone from 380,000 up to 590,000.

The last big hand for Spinella: He opened with Q-Q and got two callers.

Anthony bet 28,000 when his Queen hit the turn. He bet another 45,000 when a heart hit the river, even though that put three hearts on the board.

"I wasn't worried about the heart" said Spinella who made the right value-bet as Opponent called then tossed his cards into the much upon seeing trips.

Anthony is amongst the chip leaders with 590,000.

David 'Coldstone' Inselberg

Those of us that watch the World Poker Tour know that David 'Coldstone' Inselberg narrowly missed winning the Foxwoods World Poker finals in October 2010.  He ended up taking home $325,608 for his second place finish in that event.  It was also during the televised coverage of that event that we learned of his foray into the world of ice cream, hence his new nickname 'Coldstone'.

 David 'Coldstone' Inselberg

Since that final table, Inselberg has been on a hot streak.  In November 2010, he made the final table of a tournament at the American Casino in the Dominican Republic.  In December 2010, he final-tabled two events here at Borgata's December Series, winning the second event.  Not a bad way to wrap up 2010 -- four final tables with one win.

So far this year, he has reported six cashes, including a 307th place finish in the World Series of Poker Main Event, good for over $35,000, and two cashes so far during this Fall Poker Open series.

It is no surprise that he has become a member of Team Bustout, joining other well-known pros like Chad Brown, Matt Stout, and Lee Childs.   They wear Bustout apparel, which can be found at BustoutPoker.com and travel to events sponsored by Bustout, such as their annual Dominican Republic Poker Championship.

Blue Shark Optics, which has now combined marketing efforts with Bustout, is also involved.  David is working with them to improve their sunglasses designed for playing poker.

Unfortunately David's run in the Borgata Fall Poker Open Championship event was cut short, but he's hoping to expand the scope of his poker travels in the coming years.

When not playing poker, David is a family man who goes home to Long Beach, New York, to his wife and two children.  His teenage son has already taken an interest in the game, discussing strategy and bankroll management with his dad.

Great Fold

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

A man simply known as "Lefevre" just made a fold worthy of some props. He had A-10 on a board of 10-7-J-A-2.

Short stack Paul Spitzberg (Tenafly, NJ) jams the river. Lefevre folds and shows the table his A-10.

Nobody could believe the fold for only a few thousand more chips. Paul claimed he has 2-3 and caught the river but whispered the truth to me. He had K-Q for the Broadway nuts.

Lefevre traveled all the way from France. This is his first Borgata Poker Open Championship.

Good Deck For Badecker

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Andrew Badecker (Vernon, CT) pads his stack after rivering an inside straight against Corey Lieblein who flopped a set of fours. "I had to pay him off" said Corey.

Andrew is up to 562,000 which is gaining on Victor Ramdin's 600,000.

Richard Marshall (Raleigh, NC) just busted in 109th place at table 1.

Marshall finished 15th in the WPT Sept. Borgata Poker Open and 4th in Event 18 for $19,419.

Thanksgiving Day Table

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Pass The Cranberry

Huge table of chips with Yat Cheng (blue cap) at 340,000, Aaron Massey (seat 7) at 450,000 and Victor Ramdin (seat 8) at 600,000.

Yat scored a nice knock-out with 6-4 in the big blind. Victor raised with A-K, Opponent flatted with Q-Q, and Yat called, getting in cheap.

Yat flopped da nuts looking down at 2-3-5 and checks. Victor checks A-K and Q-Q jams.

Yat calls, Victor folds, and Yat scoops. Turn - K. River - 10.

Q-Q blamed himself for not jamming pre-flop. However, Victor probably would have called and won the pot on the turn anyway.

Next closest stack to Ramdin seems to be Andrew Badecker (Vernon, CT) with 530,000.

Victor is the chip leader in the room.

Players are on a fifteen minute break.

110 remain - 63 get the pumpkin pie!

Black Friday Sweat

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Corey Lieblein - 240,000

Self-proclaimed rank amateur Corey Lieblein (Port Washington, NY) started the day with 72,000 and built his stack up to above average at 240,000.

Corey noticed my "Pokerjunkies" hat and was telling me how he was playing at the same table at the WSOP main event Day-3 with actor-producer Mars Callahan.

Corey owns a consumer electronics company so his products will be on store shelves all across the country on Black Friday which is a huge day for Corey and his company. Naturally he'll be sweating it out, hoping for a big shopping turnout.

Early on today Corey's A-A vs. A-K wasn't much of a sweat but did score Lieblein the double-up.

Some of the pros at the table were providing some friendly banter and Corey wasn't afraid to defend himself and spar back saying to a short stack, "I'm gonna clean your clock out like it's my job". At least for today, making the cash really is the only job at hand.

Last Woman Standing

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Barbara Rogers - Last Woman Standing

Congratulations to Card Player magazine writer Barbara Rogers (Lock Haven, PA) who is having a good Fall Poker Open. She took 8th place for $7,566 in Event 18 and is the Last Woman Standing in the Championship.

Her table just broke up sending Barbara over to table 7, seat 9. We talked about how poker is both a mental and physical game.

On the mental side, Barbara was up all night re-playing hands from yesterday in her mind. Things she did, things she could have done differently.

Physically, today she's very tired - very fatigued. She's afraid she's making mistakes because of her lack of sleep.

"In one tournament to wake myself up and get the oxygen flowing, during breaks I ran up ten flights of stairs and that helped" explained Barbara.

125 players remain on 14 tables.

Average chip stack is 160,800.

5 High Shove = Winner

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Former chip leader Mikhail Zemlyansky (Hewlett, NY) and his opponent check the flop of Q 9♣ 4♠.

The turn is the 9♠ and Zemlyansky bets 13k. The remaining player makes it 40k, Zemlyansky moves all in for 93k, and the player calls.

Zemlyansky: 3 5 (five high)
Opponent: K♠ J♠ (king high, flush draw, gutshot straight draw)

River: 5

The table erupts as Zemlyansky hits a pair of fives to take his stack back to more than 200k. "You're supposed to fold there," says Zemlyansky.

The reply, "how can I fold, I'm supposed to win there."

Level 15 (1,200/2,400/300 ante) is underway.

Linster With Monster Stack

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Mike Linster - 440,000

What a comeback for former poker-pro Mike Linster who is making an incredible run in the Championship. "I started the day with 83,475 then dropped to 18,000 losing to set over set" Mike explained.

Mike's 9-9-9 fell short to J-J-J in Level 1 nine hours ago. Steady grinding has brought Linster from 18,000 up to 440,000 which is amongst the chip leaders.

The electrician from Island Park, NY says hi to all his friends and family and hopes he'll be bringing the money home for Thanksgiving dinner!

Quadzilla

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

3-3-3-3

In back to back hands a player is crippled then knocked-out.

Hand #1) Robert Chung-Shui bets 21,000 on the turn and his Opponent jams all-in. Robert calls and has him covered.

Robert's 9♣9 flopped a set and Opponent's 5♣6♣ picked up a flush draw and a double-gutter.

Cards up to the turn: 3 9 7♣ A♣

The river K gave the pot to Robert. With the double up he's up to 150,000.

After missing a ton of outs Opponent was crippled to 700 and shoved it in the next hand holding A♣ 4♣ .

Four players were in the hand trying to score the knock-out.

Tony Nguyen holds wired threes and sees a miracle flop of 3-8-3 . Another player in the hand has 8-8 and gives Tony action.

When the dust settles on a three-mendous board of 3-8-3-6-A, Tony's quad 3's knocks out two players.

Event 20: Dinner Break Chip Leader

$270 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH

Vitello Vanquishes Five

Ron Vitello (Cherry Hill, NJ) is the chip leader with 443k and at one point during hand-for-hand play had more than 500k, or 20% of the chips in play. Vitello, who has a WSOP circuit ring, doubled-up one player on the bubble for 50k, but still has a comfortable lead.

"I've been lucky," he says, while holding five $100 bounties. Another player chimes in that Vitello hit a three-outer earlier in the day to stay alive before going on a sick heater.

The 27 remaining players are on a 45 minute dinner break and all in the money.

Michael "Feld"s His Way to the Money

After doubling-up, Marc Ginsberg (Scotch Plains, NJ) provides the knockout that sends the final 27 players into the money. Ginsberg has pocket jacks UTG, and the BB, who's down to 2200, reluctantly calls with 9 3 offsuit.

The flop brings a jack and the anonymous player is on the rail and disappointedly says, "no chance you get my name."

One guy who's thrilled to make the final 27 for a $526 min cash is Michael Feld (Sparta, NJ). He was blinded down to 2300 and staring down the barrel of the blinds before surviving to make the money.

Schultz Still Standing

As blinds increase to 3k/6k/500 ante, several short stacks are doubling-up.

The last woman standing, Alli Schultz (New York, NY) doubles through Dan D'Agostino (Belleville, NJ) with pocket queens after Vic Harris (Forrest Hills, NY) agonizes and folds pocket 6s, which would've lost.

Marc Ginsberg (Scotch Plains, NJ) stays alive with pocket aces against chip leader Ron Vitello (Cherry Hill, NJ); Ginsberg doubles 50k to grab some bubble breathing room.

Event 20: Bubble Trouble

$270 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH

With 29 players remaining, one spot before hand-for-hand play, UCLA student Kevin Sullivan (Los Angeles, CA) get a much needed double-up against Don Brown (Westbury, NY) when he hits a three-outer on the river to double 28,300.

Shortly after that one elimination means dinner break is postponed until the bubble breaks.

Dinner Time

Wardell Doubles Thru Phung

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

After a raising war, Scott Wardell (Winterville, NC) was all-in pre-flop.  Cuong Phung (Atlantic City, NJ) tanked for a couple of minutes, faced with call of an additional 90k.

He eventually decided to call, showing pocket Queens.  Scott held pocket Kings and was way ahead.

The board came 8 7 3 A 5 and Scott's Kings were good for a double-up to ~256k.

Cuong was left with ~75k.

New Chip Leader

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Jesse Yaginuma picked the wrong time to run a bluff.

He fired on every street while John Myung (Vienna, VA) called him all the way.

 John Myung

On the river with an innocuous 8-high board with two hearts, Jesse shoved about 100k.  And John called.

Jesse only had King-high.  John had pocket Aces to claim the pot, bust Jesse, and claim the chip lead. John is now up to about 500k.

Aaron Massey is up to ~365k after felting Matt Glantz.

Chip Lead Update

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

All players are now in the Signature Room, so I checked in on my two big stacks.

John Andress is still the leader, but is still at about 375k where he was before.

Nick Manfredo is also still sitting on about 320k, the same as he had before.

Travis Greenawalt has claimed 2nd place with 325k.

I found no other players over 300k, but Aaron Massey is getting close with ~290k and Mikhail Zemlyansky is up to 280k.

18 tables remain with about 162 players still in the fight.  Average stack is about 124k.

Victor Makes Hero Call vs Frankenberger

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Play resumed after the break with level 14, blinds 800/1,600 with 200 antes.

I had his hand recounted to me by the players themselves.  It happened during the previous level.

Due to table breaks and player moves, Victor Ramdin has landed at table twelve with WPT POY Andy Frankenberger on his right.  Matt Glantz is also now at table 12.

Andy raised and Victor 3-bet.  Andy called and the flop fell Q Q 4 with two hearts.  Andy checked, Victor bet, and Andy called.

Turn was an Ace and Andy led out for 12,500.  Victor raised to 30k and Andy called.

River was a blank.  Andy shoved for 46k.  Victor tanked and/or nit-rolled, (depending on the source) and eventually called.  Andy had Q9 for trip Queens.  Victor had QT for trip Queens with a slightly better kicker to take the pot and double-up.

As of the break, Victor was up to ~190k while Andy was down to ~55k.

The players in the Poker Room are getting a dry run on what they hope to be doing late tonight/early Wednesday morning, bagging and tagging.

The remaining six tables in the Poker Room are moving to the Signature Room as approximately 175 players remain with an average stack of 115k (57 BB).

The next time players bag and tag, they'll be in the money and done for the night before returning Wednesday to play for the top prize of $388,657.

Break!

Kevin Saul is done.  His rivered flush was out-rivered by quadzilla.

John Hinds was all-in on a flop of A J 7 with a set of Jacks.  Unfortunately for John, his opponent had a set of Ace.  He has also reported to the rail.

Level 13 is done and time for another break.

During this break, the remaining tables will be moved over from the poker room so that the entire field is finally in one room.

Filippi Felted

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

On a flop of 9 7 5 with two hearts, Amnon Filippi (New York, NY) was all-in against Sung Ha Kim (Cliffside Park, NJ).

Amnon held AJ of hearts for the nut flush draw with two overcards.  Kim held 87 of spades for middle pair with gutshot.

The last two came offsuit 2 6 and Kim improved to a straight on the river to claim the pot, felting Amnon in the process.

Kim chipped up to ~170k.

Leonid Lerner got all-in holding 97 suited against pocket 3s.  The flop included a 9 and two of his suit, so it was all Leonid.  He doubled up to about 100k.

Pagliuca Hits 4-Outer

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

After hearing repeatedly "Yes! Yes! Yes!" from across the room, I had to go see what had transpired on table 9.

On a flop of J 9 5, Henry Pagliuca (Bloomfield, NJ) was all-in holding J9 (top two pair) against a player holding pocket 5s (bottom set).

 Henry Pagliuca

Henry had 4 outs to save his tournament life, needing a Jack or 9 to survive.

That's when the Jack fell on the turn, giving Henry the suck-out and the double-up.  He's now got over 200k.

Recent Action

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Blinds are up to 800/1,600 with 200 antes for level 13.

Scott Wardell (Tabernacle, NJ) was all-in for 40,400 holding AQ off against Michael Shasho's (Ramsey, NJ) pocket Kings.

And Ace on the turn gave the pot and the double-up to Scott.  Michael was left with about 140k, still in good shape.

Eli Loewenthal's (Carmel, IN) pocket Aces were good for a double-up.

Cliff Josephy's (Muttontown, NY) pocket Queens did not hold up.  Then he lost a race with AQ against pocket 6s.  He's down to ~60k.

Signature Chip Leader

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

Back in the Signature Room, some interesting moves have taken place.

Borgata Poker Open champion Bobby Oboodi has busted out.  Day 1B chip leader Sakip Shehu (Brooklyn, NY) has landed in his empty seat at table 10.

Table 5 has gotten a lot tougher as players have moved in to fill empty seats:
Alex Queen
Leonid Vizirov
Natale Kuey
Sean Knitter
Kirkor 'Coco' Tekneci
Bruce Yamron
Arkadiy Tsinis

230 Remain

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP NLH

17 tables are still in action here in the Signature Room.  9 tables are still going in the Poker Room.

That's 26 total nine-handed tables.  TD Tab Duchateau has tweeted that there are 230 players remaining.

Eventually all tables will be moved to the Signature Room, but there are only 25 tables in here.

There's still a long way to go to get to the money at 63 players.
