Event 1: Run Is Over

$400 + $50 No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Burin Burned by Jacks

Burin Shinawatra (Annadale, VA) began the day with an above average chip stack, but was just happy to still be playing. "I almost didn't make it to dinner," he says about his Day 1 play, "but I got lucky."

Shinawatra survived an all-in with KQ vs AK to double a 12k stack when he hit a straight on the river. After slowly building his stack to make the money, he returned for Day 2 with 331k (33 BB).

Shinawatra's good fortune comes to an end when his AK doesn't connect against the pocket jacks of chip leader Son Nguyen (Myrtle Beach, SC).

Shinawatra loses his last 350k, while Nguyen now has 1.7 million.

"I played my best, so I'm happy," he says after earning $1,242 for his 46th place finish, "but you always want to do better."

Shinawatra has been doing well in Virginia real estate, but is looking to play poker more seriously and improve his resume. "I usually cash, but only have two final tables. You need some luck at the end. If I hit that hand, who knows how it goes."
