Lockwood Locking up Chips
It doesn't take long for Phil Lockwood (Suffern, NY) to take advantage of impatient play.
Lockwood's has pocket queens on the first hand and hits a queen on the river for a full house to practically double-up. "Usually I don't like to get involved that early," says the 4th grade teacher, "but it worked out."
His opponent is out three hands later and Lockwood is feeling good. "Usually I'm slow and steady," he says referring to his turtle card protector.
Lockwood says he's missing a teacher conference today and "might" attend tomorrow's depending on how well the tournament goes.
