Muck This Chop

$2500 + $200 CHAMPIONSHIP Double Play Re-Entry NLH

An interesting hand plays out in front of Media Row and involves two time WPT title holder Cornell Cimpan.

On a board of 2 3 5, Cimpan 4-bet shoves and Arnold Halpern (New York, NY) calls.

Cimpan turns over A 4for the straight and Halpern tosses his cards face down towards the muck. The table convinces Halpern to turn over his pocket jacks and that he had outs, but Cimpan wants an official ruling.

Because the cards are easily retrievable, Tournament Director Tab Duchateau says the hand is live.

Turn: 4
River: A

With the board showing A-2-3-4-5, it's a chop pot, Halpern gets his 22k back and has new life.

When asked if he'll ever fold an all-in hand again, Halpern simply says, "no," while laughing.

"I knew it was the right ruling, I just wanted to make sure," says Cimpan, who's sitting with 40k.
