Ron Vitello (Cherry Hill, NJ) is the chip leader with 443k and at one point during hand-for-hand play had more than 500k, or 20% of the chips in play. Vitello, who has a WSOP circuit ring, doubled-up one player on the bubble for 50k, but still has a comfortable lead.

"I've been lucky," he says, while holding five $100 bounties. Another player chimes in that Vitello hit a three-outer earlier in the day to stay alive before going on a sick heater.

The 27 remaining players are on a 45 minute dinner break and all in the money.
